An Environmentally- and Textile-Friendly Film

Start-to-Finish Manufacturing, From Raw Resin to Films

  • POVAL (PVA), which has extremely low toxicity, is used as the raw material.
  • The softening agent is comprised mainly of glycerin, which is approved as a food additive.
  • Water is used as the solvent during the manufacturing process. There is no need for the use of CFCs or organic solvents.

An Optimal Packaging Material that Is Easy on Textiles

  • KURARAY VINYLON is neither easily damaged nor wrinkled, and it also has superior transparency and gloss, accentuating the beauty of the product within.
  • The film does not contain the antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), thereby reducing the yellowing of textile products.
  • Mold does not easily arise because POVAL FILM has high moisture permeability.

An environmentally-friendly biodegradable film

  • The raw material PVA is decomposed into water and carbon dioxide by some microorganisms.
  • "KURARAY POVAL FILM" is registered in the Japan BioPlastics Association (JBPA) GreenPla Positive List under Classification Code C (Other Materials) as PVA based film PL# C00103. It is therefore possible to obtain the GreenPla mark through use of this product.
  • Extremely little dioxins and SOx, which are causes for acid rain, are generated when the film is incinerated.
Furthermore, it does not damage incinerators as the calorific value during combustion is low at about half those of polypropylene and polyethylene.

The following features are also available

  • Low electrostaticity prevents the attraction of dust, keeping packaging clean and suitable for displaying over long periods.
  • Good ink adhesion results in vivid printing that makes products look appealing.
